The Pocket Book of Training

This resource describes how to design, write, conduct and evaluate training courses. Basic communication principles and Adult Learning theory are also covered, as well as a small debate concerning "competency based education".

This small book is designed to be a light hearted companion for people learning the trade, and adult and general education practitioners interested in another practitioner's point of view.

The author, Russell MacAndrew, does not present himself as an expert on the subject, but rather a practitioner eager to share knowledge and experiences gained over many years of practice and perhaps to encourage a little excited debate about adult and general education.

Russell has a management background and teaches many diverse management subjects, interpersonal communication and education. He also has qualifications in: science, management, adult and general education.

Winning a Job in Public Enterprise

As a selection/recruitment consultant for Government organisations, Russell was concerned at the lack of skills in the area of writing Job Applications and Interview preparation and behaviour.

He was also running courses on writing job applications and his students were asking for a small reference resource. As a result he wrote this small, light hearted and easy to read booklet.

The booklet is divided into 6 small chapters:

  1. Where are vacancies advertised?
  2. The Resume
  3. The Application
  4. Preparation for the Interview
  5. At the Interview
  6. The End
